In the novel, "Life of Pi" by Yann Martel, we read about a young boy named Pi and how he struggles to survive during and after losing his entire family, while stranded in the ocean on a lifeboat. We read of how his mother is brutally slain and beheaded right before him and of several cannibalistic acts that take place on the lifeboat as well, and being that this story is actually based upon a true story ... it makes me wonder, "What would I do if I were in a situation like that?" and honestly, I know I would go insane and just like the main charcater of this story, Pi, I believe I would probably develop multiple personalities to ease all the pain. I also believe that people in our society who have split personalities are usually traumatized by something that has taken place in their lives and try to create multiple personalities as a way to run away from their problems, as a soothing mechanism to allow that person to be able to focus all their suffering into one seperate personality so that they can still try to go on with their lives without feeling consumed by anger, sorrow, and/or insanity.
Hello, my name is Kimberly and I am completely new to VOX. I'm a current senior at Lovejoy High and determined to graduate this May. But I've been told to join this social utility for a project grade in my British Literature class. Now, you may be wondering, "What does all this have to do with me?" or "Why should I even care?" WELL!! Pretty soon I am going to be asked by my teacher to post different essays on topics that we discuss in class and I need YOUR feedback in order to pass. I'll need your comments, your time, and tons of positivity (maybe a little prayer or too also) to dominate this assignment because my grade will totally depend on the comments you leave me and I at least need 10 to be complete. NO this isn't some joke, I'm about as serious as a heart attack. But if I could just receive a little of your help and cooperation, I'd be highly thankful and appreciative. So welcome to my VOX and thank you so much for your time.
Sincerely,
Kimberly
